Music’s Biggest Night: The 55th Annual Grammy Awards

Music’s biggest night is this Sunday, and it sounds like the 2013 Grammy Awards have a lot in store for us. Not only can we expect an amazing show from LL Cool J, but there is also word of a tribute to Mark Lavon “Levon” Helm, an American rock musician, who died of throat cancer last April.

Fun., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean and Kanye West have outdone the 2013 Grammy nominations with six each, but the Black Keys and Miquel are not far behind with five each. You may be thinking, “This year’s nominations are full of men!” But Kelly Clarkson, who has been nominated four times, Taylor Swift, who has received three, and Carly Rae Jepson is not far behind with two.

And the winner is… Best Fashions from the 2012 Emmy’s

Did you remember to watch the Emmy’s this past Sunday? As usual, it was an exciting show, with lots of great fashion! Here are a couple of our favorite looks!

Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer Goodwin looked amazing at The Emmy’s! The Once Upon a Time actress just seems to have a knack for the vintage look. She looked stunning in her orange Monique Lhuillier gown and Christian Louboutin shoes! Her vintage 1960’s style makeup and adorable pixie cut complimented the look very nicely. Ginnifer presented an award at the show looking just like a princess. She always looks so elegant!

Tina Fey

Tina Fey of NBC’S 30 Rock looked awesome at the Emmy’s this year. Everyone’s favorite funny girl dazzled the red carpet in her plum-colored Vivienne Westwood gown. The color of the gown looked perfect against her fair complexion, and the updo she chose made the look very sleek. Tina Fey’s got it all- looks and a sense of humor! We admire her for always being able to look super glamorous!

Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards

Last night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) hosted their annual awards otherwise known as the “Oscars of Fashion”. Attracting a modge podge of celebrities, models, and fashion insiders, it’s the biggest celebration to honor those behind-the-scenes in the fashion world. Seth Meyers of SNL “Weekend Update” fame hosted the event, while former “Full House” residents Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen took home the awards’ coveted top prize, “Womenswear Designer of the Year”. The full list of awards:

The winners and honorees of the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards:
Womenswear Designer of the Year Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen for The Row
Menswear Designer of the Year Billy Reid
Accessory Designer of the Year Reed Krakoff
Swarovski Award for Womenswear Joseph Altuzarra
Swarovski Award for Menswear Phillip Lim
Swarovski Award for Accessory Design Tabitha Simmons
Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award Tommy Hilfiger
International Award Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons
The Media Award, given in honor of Eugenia Sheppard Scott Schuman and Garance Dore
The Founder’s Award, given in honor of CFDA Founder Eleanor Lambert Andrew Rosen
Fashion Icon Award Johnny Depp
And for a night that truly is all about the fashion, here’s our choices for best dressed of the night:

Olsens
The night’s big winners looked surprisingly chic and put together in their gowns, both by their own fashion label, “The Row”.

HR
Hilary Rhoda looks beautiful in her perfectly fitted Rebecca Minkoff gown.

Green
Victoria’s Secret model Erin Heatherton looked appropriately goddess-like in her green floor-length gown.

Jess
Most moms will tell you that black and blue will make you look like a bruise, but model Jessica Stam looks more drop-dead gorgeous than just drop-dead in her sheer, lacy Jason Wu number.

Zoe

Zoe Saldana looks both edgy and chic on the arm of designer Prabal Gurung wearing, who else, Prabal Gurung.

Billboard Music Awards

The Billboard Music Awards, hosted by the famous magazine, are a fun place for celebrities to show off on the red carpet. But unlike other award shows, many celebrities went the opposite direction of their normal style to stand out as they made their way inside for the ceremonies.

kp

The normally crazy Katy Perry wowed the crowd in a sleek purple Blumarine gown paired with dark purple hair and matching purple lips.

mc

Miley Cyrus continues on her quest to prove she’s all grown up in a white Jean Paul Gualtier blazer and skirt combination and striped Christian Louboutin heels. Too much skin for the still-teenaged starlet, or just another stepping stone towards finding her own style?

ts

For Taylor Swift, a normally conservative dresser lauded for her princess and glittery gowns, an Elie Saab peek-a-boo lace dress was a departure from her usual look.

nb1nb2

Natasha Bedingfield too showed an affinity for peek-a-boo dresses, wearing not just one, but two gowns with strategic embellishments on mesh.

zd

But some stars are still predictable, like Zooey Deschannel’s 60’s silhouette inspired beaded Moschino dress, paired with her standard black tights and matching black heels.

Aveda Awards BOHO Magazine for the 2009 Environmental Award

image008

Global sustainability leader Aveda(tm) and non-profit organization Green America have awarded BOHO Magazine the prestigious 2009 ‘Aveda Environmental Award for Magazines’ in the New Launch category. Boho is the FIRST fashion & beauty magazine to be receiving this type of award. After just one year in operation, it is truly a great honor to have BOHO Magazine recognized by the leader in corporate environmental continuity.

This award recognizes the achievement of magazines committed to environmental leadership in an industry where tragically, less than 2 percent of all magazine paper contains any recycled content.

Collectively, Boho and the two other category winners, have saved 64,794 trees, conserved 20,60 BTU’s of energy, saved 5,653,166 pounds in greenhouse gases, conserved 30,068,235 of wastewater, and 1,455,240 pounds of solid waste.

Since its launch in 2008, BOHO Magazine has been committed to promoting eco-conscious products and practices, and using complementary eco-minded packaging. BOHO has ushered a new era for fashion magazines by delivering high fashion and beauty tips while also significantly reducing its impact on the environment. While similar high gloss magazines would require 296 tons of virgin wood from the forest, BOHO magazine prides itself on the fact that it uses none.

Congratulations to Gina La Morte and the team at Boho Magazine! We wish you continued success!
